To do our TaylorMade M2 v Nike Vapor Fly driver test we knew it was a job for our anonymous big hitter.

We tried to contact him but soon discovered he’d gone on holiday so had to draft in his younger brother. Would he be an able stand-in?

Nike Golf has gained much ground in just a few short years in the golf equipment and apparel business. Capitalizing on their success in other sports, Nike has produced a full line of products, from Wedges, Irons, Woods and Drivers to apparel, footwear and gloves that have rapidly gained much popularity both on Tour, and among players of all.

Our TaylorMade M2 v Nike Vapor Fly took place at the Golf Shack at Moor Allerton in Leeds under the watchful eye of our resident pro James Whitaker.

All launch monitor data was gathered using Trackman 4.

TaylorMade M2 v Nike Vapor Fly – The methodolgy

1. The Nike Covert driver features an attractive glossy red finish with the Nike swoosh in white just behind the hosel. Covert is written very subtle on the crown intended as an alignment aid in small black print. The Nike VRS Covert driver features a 460cc club head with a traditional shape at address.

It was a no brainer why we wanted to do this test as Rory McIlroy has been among the many Nike tour players who have made the switch.

Francesco Molinari and Brooks Koepka made the exact same switch and a certain Tiger Woods has recently put the M2 into play.

This test featured the 2016 M2 driver as apposed to the brand new one as we haven’t seen any tour players using the brand new model yet.

We wanted to see why the likes of McIlroy had made the switch to this particular driver.

Our anonymous big hitter’s younger brother hit a range of shots with the Nike Vapor Fly and then with the M2.

The exact same shaft was used in each driver.

TaylorMade M2 v Nike Vapor Fly – The results

The numbers with the Nike Vapor Fly were very consistent in terms of launch, ball speed, spin, carry and overall distance.

As an average we had 271 yards of carry, 293 yards of total distance, 2,500rpm of spin and 163mph of ball speed. So you could say it was working pretty well.

With the TaylorMade M2 we instantly saw a bit more ball speed, less spin and more distance.

The front to back and left to right dispersion was also a bit tighter.

So it didn’t really take a detective to deduce why so many players have been opting for the M2.

We’ve heard many people say that ball speed it king as it is ultimately the biggest indicator of how well a driver is performing against another.

The swing speed with both drivers was exactly the same but there was more ball speed with the M2 so it was working more efficiently for our anonymous big hitter. Dell sonicwall global vpn client free download for mac.

This test proved something that we already knew – the TaylorMade M2 driver is a fantastic product.

It’s working well for club golfers and tour pros alike. Beyond a steel sky soundtrack for mac.

It’s interesting that so many Nike staff players have been switching to the M2 as they have the option of playing anything they want at the moment.

We were surprised that TaylorMade introduced a new M2 driver just a short while after the likes of McIlroy and Woods started using the ‘old’ one.

  An eye-catcher on the course and the performance backs it up. The head is classy and the simple, independent adjustability increases the shelf appeal.

What we say..

2013 Driver Test

Instantly, your eye is drawn to the rich, red on the crown and the Nike Swoosh near the hosel – but our testing team didn’t mind it. In fact, all the testers apart from Kit said they liked the red design. Joel tried the smaller-headed Covert Tour version and it was an instant hit. His dispersion was on average five yards left of target and he hit his longest drive of the day.

Nike Vrs Covert 2.0 Tour Driver Specs

James liked the slightly heavier stock Kuro Kage shaft and deeper face on the Tour version that offered surprising levels of forgiveness. Some felt the sound was a little muted, but all enjoyed being able to tweak the face to suit their swings easily. Chris was impressed with the forgiveness of the standard version while Graeme felt this was the best looking driver on test.

If you’re thinking that whopping great hole in the back of the sole is bound to make it sound strange, you’d be wrong. Nike told us that this was a great-sounding driver, but until I hit it I had my
doubts. However, this really did offer a pleasing thud at impact, and is a considerable improvement from the sound of Nike drivers before – VR_S excepted.

The stunning red head conceals the cavity beautifully, and it really is a very classic shape at address. It also flew well, and with all of the adjustability on offer (from 8.5-12.5) there is a setting for the
vast majority of golfers.

It’s confidence-inspiring, easy-touse and the Tour version will also please the better players. Finally, at less than £250, it represents a very solid investment.

Pros: Easy-to-hit and stunning aesthetics make it a winner.
Cons: A great concept, but will have its detractors. Try it before you criticise.

Nike Vrs Driver Specs

Left for dead 4 mac torrent. Nike Golf have introduced their marquee product for 2013, the VR_S Covert driver, featuring an innovative cavity back head and FlexLoft adjustability system.
The cavity in the 460cc head, visible from the sole only, has been engineered so that more weight can be moved to the heel and toe of the driver, ensuring more stability at impact, greater forgiveness and better results on off-centre strikes. The stunning red crown will certainly turn heads, but the real story is the technology that lies beneath.
The driver also features the intuitive FlexLoft adjustability system which allows golfers to alter the loft from 8.5° through to 12.5° and to any face angle independently from the loft.
The new VR_S Covert benefits from Nike’s NexCOR face technology that featured in the original VR_S line – the innovation delivers faster ball speeds across a wider area of the face by moving the sweetspot higher from the heel, an area proven to be where most golfers make contact.
There will also be a Covert Tour driver, complete with the same level of adjustability and the cavity back design, but in a slightly smaller 430cc head size and with a deeper face, as favoured by better players.
